India’s GHG emissions grew at a CAGR of 5% from 1465 MtCO2e in 2005 to 2378 MtCO2e 2015. The bulk of these emissions growth was fuelled by the energy sector, that accounted for 78% of the total emissions of India in 2015. The rest of the emissions were from AFOLU (10%), IPPU (7%) and Waste (4%). Emissions from the Energy sector grew fastest with a CAGR of 6%. CAGR of the other sectors namely IPPU and Waste were 5.6% and 4.2% respectively. Emissions from the AFOLU sector, unlike other sectors, remained stagnant throughout the reporting period.
