An Indian Civil Society Initiative to Understand India's GHG Emission Estimates

The AFOLU sector emission estimations follow the IPCC (1996; 2006) format including variations proposed by the Ministry of Environment and Forest, Government of India. For data sources and information, Government of India census data of animal populations, area and agricultural production surveys were used, such as National Forest Inventory (NFI), Forest Survey of India (FSI) , along with remotely sensed data for LULUCF. A mix of Tier 2 level and Tier 3 level methodologies are used according to the classification of the IPCC (1996; 2006), along with specific factors depelopment by IPCC.
