AFOLU Sector

AFOLU Sector

The AFOLU sector emission estimations follow the IPCC (1996; 2006) format including variations proposed by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India. For data sources and information, Government of India census data of animal populations, area and agricultural production surveys were used, such as National Forest Inventory (NFI), Forest Survey of India (FSI), along with remotely sensed data for LULUCF. A mix of Tier 2 level and Tier 3 level methodologies are used according to the classification of the IPCC (1996; 2006), along with default emission factors given by IPCC. Calendar years are used for the purpose of estimating AFOLU emissions.
